一、非真實(shí)條件虛擬語(yǔ)氣的其他用法

1.錯(cuò)綜條件虛擬語(yǔ)氣。當(dāng)虛擬條件句中的主句、從句謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞動(dòng)作發(fā)生的時(shí)間不一致時(shí),動(dòng)詞就要根據(jù)各自的具體時(shí)間來(lái)確定所需要的形式。如:

If you had taken my advice at that time, you would know what to do now.

2.含蓄條件句。有時(shí)為了表達(dá)的需要,在虛擬條件句中并不總是出現(xiàn)if引導(dǎo)的條件句,而通過(guò)其它手段來(lái)代替條件句,例如with/without, but for(除了), otherwise/or。

What would you do with a million dollar? (= if you had a million dollars)

We couldn’t have finished the work ahead of time without your help. (= if we hadn’t got your help)

But for the rain (= If it hadn’t been for the rain), we would have finished the work.

He telephoned to inform me of my birthday, or I would have known nothing about it.

3. 常用非真實(shí)條件虛擬語(yǔ)氣的其它句型:

1) wish后that引導(dǎo)的賓語(yǔ)從句中。如:

I wish I were as clever as you.

I wish I hadn’t missed the train yesterday!

2) would rather后的賓語(yǔ)從句中。如:

I’d rather you didn’t go there.

3) as if/though引導(dǎo)的表語(yǔ)從句和方式狀語(yǔ)從句中。如:

He looks as if/though he were an artist.

4) If only引導(dǎo)的感嘆句中。如:

If only I were the principal!

5) It is (high) time that…句式中。如:

It’s (high) time that we went home now.

二、(should) do形式的虛擬語(yǔ)氣

在下列句型中,常用“should +動(dòng)詞原形”且should可以省略:

1.用在表示建議、命令和要求的動(dòng)詞所引導(dǎo)的賓語(yǔ)從句中。常見的動(dòng)詞有:insist, order, command, advise, suggest, propose, demand , require, request, desire等。如:

The doctor suggested/insisted that she (should) stay in bed for a few days.

注意:當(dāng)suggest作“暗示,表明”講,insist做“堅(jiān)持說(shuō)”講時(shí),后邊that從句不用虛擬語(yǔ)氣。如:Mike insisted that he had never stolen anything.

The look on his face suggested that he was hungry.

2.在名詞advice, order, suggestion, request, proposal等后面that引導(dǎo)的同位語(yǔ)從句,或這些名詞作主語(yǔ)是后面that引導(dǎo)的表語(yǔ)從句中。如:

We all agreed to his suggestion that we (should) give up the plan.

3.在It is necessary/natural/strange/important…that和It is a pity/a shame/no wonder…that從句中。如:It’s necessary that we (should) clean the room every day.

It’s a shame that our team should lose the game.

注意:在這兩個(gè)句型的that從句中也可以不用虛擬語(yǔ)氣,而用陳述語(yǔ)氣。

4.用于某些簡(jiǎn)單句的固定句型中。如:
