but a newspaper more than carries simple news items, it also provides, in different sections, instructions on such things as first aid, cooking, playing the chess and taking pictures. thus besides making us acquainted with the world, reading newspapers can also widen our scope of knowledge. everybody should read newspapers.

Newspapers, a Medium of the Past? It was on the morning of 12th, Sep. On hearing that an unbelievable catastrophe had happened in New York, I rushed to a news stand and anxiously asked for a copy of newspaper, only to be told that they had already been sold out. Though I knew the details of the disaster on TV later the day, I still bought a pile of newspapers and read them with gusto.
At least to traditional readers like me, newspapers still hold an important position in our heart. Some people regard newspapers as a medium of the past and predict that they will be replaced by TV and the Internet in the near future. They point out that the two new media have the advantage of promptness and vividness. Through live broadcast of news events, TV viewers can feel that they are on the spot, seeing whats actually happening with their own eyes. As far as Im concerned, however, newspapers may provide the readers with factual reports as well as certain viewpoint.
When people argue that with the development of the Internet, people now have an easier access to news media through PDAs, mobile phones and PCs. Wherever one wants to know whats happening in the world, he no longer needs to bother searching for a bookstore.Instead, he would surf online and find exactly what he wants on a website. However, there are more people, me included, firmly hold the opinion that newspapers are still indispensable to our life.First of all, Newspapers gain us a deeper insights into the events. A well-written report, reasonable and forceful, probing into the core of the topic, provoke our thoughts on such issues as morality, justice, value and so on. While TV feasts our eyes with flash pictures, newspapers enrich our minds with sparkling wits.
Secondly, though with great potential, the new media are not as popular as newspapers. A retired worker would rather buy an evening paper on his way home, instead of taking pains to learn how to operate a PC. A senior manager would prefer to skip through a Wall Street Daily rather than waste his precious time in front of a TV on the bus set. Last but not the least, people like to read newspapers just out of habit. They prefer the lovely smell of a newly printed newspaper to computer screen which makes their heads spin. They want to see words in black and white, and keep them after reading, if necessary. Considering the fact that radios have not been driven out of the market by TV, and book sales not affected by the invention of e-book, I would draw the conclusion that despite the increasing popularity of new media, newspapers still play an important role in peoples life.

The Comparison of Newspaper and Internet
There are a lot of difference between newspaper and information on internet. One of important things is that it is not convenient to save and look up information on newspaper, while the information on internet is easier to save. Another important thing is that you must pay some money for reading any newspaper. But you can get information on internet without paying. The third main difference is there are a lot of specific experts editing newspaper. By contrast, anyone can claim their ideas on internet freely.
But there are still some same things between these. At the beginning with, they all concentrate the latest news. The second is both of them has attractive title and colorful pictures. Finally, they all get profit by publishing advertisement.
Summarily, in my opinion, the information on internet is more helpful for me.

future of newspapers
have you ever lay in the sun, enjoying the entertainment of reading a newspaper? have you ever sat in an underground railway, killing your boring time by turning a newspaper? if you have made it, there is no doubt that you may not deny the importance of newspapers as a popular medium.
the first reason underlying my judgment is that newspapers provide us with great convenience. though the advent of electric media like televisions and computers offer us another way to obtaining information, their generation by electricity circumscribes their uses indoors. on the other hand, newspapers may be carried wherever we intend to. in addition, their small size and light weight will surely spare our effort to take them.
another incomparable advantage of newspapers lies in their non-pollution. it may be said without fear of eaggeration that almost all those electronic media do harm to people's health.take televisions for eample:eposures to radiations, a kind of pollution, from them in the long run will undermine people's health, and especially for pregnant women. the radiation may even affect the baby to some etent.the same case can also be found in computers without any difficulty. newspapers, by contrast, are made of natural materials. therefore no pollution will be given off nor are people subjected to the risk of illness when they read a newspaper.
it is true that electronic media also have some merits superior to newspapers. they can give us more direct information, not only by words but by sounds and pictures as well. but regarding newspapers as a medium of past is an apparent understanding, far from the truth.
according to what has been analyzed above, newspapers have some eclusive advantages compared with other media, which affirm their popularity and will keep it on and on.

Yesterday I read an English newspaper for the first time. When I spread it out, I didn't know where to start. All the headlines confused me and the writing style of the articles was very different from that of what we usually read. However, after looking up the new words left and right in the dictionary, I finally made out the meaning more or less.
Reading newspapers was not as easy as I had expected, but it offered me a sense of achievement and aroused my interest in learning the language. The comic strip was the first part of this newspaper I read. Some of them are quite amusing, some philosophical, and still others quite political. Then I tried to read other parts of the newspaper, like the editorial and local news. Through this experience, I have acquired a better and newer channel of learning English.

With the development of our society, changes occur everyday Digital camera has replaced camera;MP3 in place of Discman and Walkman; Intelligence administrating society instead of man-administrating community The traditional way of printing news through newspapers has now been confronted with the never-met challenge To start with, time plays the most important role That is to say, if we want to approach the latest news, newspaper is simply not a good way 11, the moment the event took place, Internet and TV followed right away To follow is its limitation in reporting news That means we have to consult different newspapers to meet our different needs.
Quite on the contrary, others hold the opinion that even with the development of science and technology, newspaper, as symbol of the traditional media, wont disappear, for some of its advantages cant be replaced Newspapers can be easily packed in your suitcase, and can be bought everywhere.
Having a news paper, you can select what you do or do not want to read while TV or radio or even computer will probably confine your eyes to those that you regard as rubbish Generally speaking, newspapers, especially formal ones, include formal remarks on the important events that provide you with a better understanding Though the highly developed science and technology influence almost every corner of the world and quicken the pace of globalization which makes the idea of "sharing the source" come true, newspaper, as the traditional way of media, cannot be abolished, not only because of its irreplaceable advantages but its collectability and its inner charm of witnessing the good old days.

Newspapers and websites are two major new media in the world today, both of which can provide us with lots of news and information. But theyre different in some ways.
Newspapers enjoy a longer history and often come out daily with more reliable news and information. They can be carried and read almost anywhere you like. So many people like reading them. But they can only contain texts and photos.
On the other hand, websites are quite new and popular, especially among young people. Websites have not only texts with pictures but also audios and videos, which makes stories more interesting. Whats more, they are updated from time to time. So the latest news is always seen on websites instead of in newspapers. But it is not quite convenient for people without a computer connected with the Internet to get information from websites.
