Being online is no longer something new or fresh in our life.To some extent,it has become part of our daily life.We can do a lot of things online,such as searching for information and communicating with friends far away.But recently another helpful online activity has become very “in”.That is online education.
Why could online education be so popular within such a short period of time?Among other reasons,the quick development of the Internet should be an essential one,which makes all our dreams of attending class in the distance possible.Another underlying reason is the quick development of both society and technology.Today,modern science and technology is developing with fantastic speed.To catch up with this development we all feel an urgent and strong desire to study.However,due to the great pace of modern society,many people are too busy to study full time at school.Online education just comes to their aid.
Personally,I appreciate this new form of education.Its indeed a helpful complement to the traditional educational means.It can provide different learners with more flexible and versatile ways of learning.Best of all,with online education,we can stick to our jobs and at the same time study and absorb the latest knowledge.

Much has been discussed recently on English teaching at college,Someone says that it is a total failure.To some extent ,it is reasonable to say so,for after ten-year English learning,most graduates can't properly communicate with foreigners,nor can we translate between languages,let alone write in English.Where are the problem?
To begin with,English teaching at college,to a great extent,teacher-centerde,turning a language class into an information class.It is still very common in the classroom that the teacher explains every language point in detail,while students take notes all the time.Secondly,culture is neglected in English teaching because of poor text design.Some redundant unrealistic materials and a great deal or grammar and structure exercises in the text lead to students memorizing a large vocabulary and a lot of English rules.Few students know how ,when and where to use them.Finally,test-oriented education,in a sense,misleads and impedes college English teaching in China.For example,colege English Test Band Four or Six is so overemphasized in some colleges that teachers teach to the test,sacrificing learning for the sake of test results,and students only learn to pass the examination.
As a result ,students actual language competence is weakened though the passing rate has increased.In conclusion,Chinese English teaching is to be reformed.Students should be centered on ,culture knowledge ,should be introduced in language teaching ,and examination should be dealt with appropiately.

For one thing,such "rod using" education mode has no possibility of achieving the goal of education:the forming of a child's judgment on right and wrong as well as the developing of a child's self-control ability.Children are always inquisitive and destructive,tearing up books,throwing down vases and etc,which will make you feel rather angry.Punish them or explain to them,you are faced up with a choice.In fact,whichever method you choose,it will be effective at that time.The only difference is that the former one works on children's fear of penalty and the latter one on their realization of mistakes.Fears disappearing quickly,children are likely to repeat their wrong activities if you only punish them.Once learning why they are wrong and knowing what is allowed and what is banned,the children may avoid making the same mistakes in the future.And little by little,children's judging ability will be developed.So in the long run,pointing out the mistakes and what is permitted seem more wise.
Similarly,such "penalty emphasizing" education mode,which somewhat seems a bit violent,harms children's growth and the forming of their characters."Many adults' mental diseases have close relationship with their childhood's penalty",psychiatrists say on a large number of researches.Furthermore,such education mode may result in children's rebellious temperaments or too timid and weak characters.Additionally,this mode will widen the gap between two generations.With all these unexpected results,we would better think deeply over this education mode.

Quite often parents will be torn by pangs(劇痛) of regret(懊悔) and remorse(自責(zé)) after they have beaten their children.They feel very sad in the rest of their lives.But it is already too late.How can they bring their handicapped(有生理缺陷的) child back to healthy one?How can they relieve(減輕) pains in their children’s heart so easily?We can say beating hurts both children and parents.It is absolutely a bad way to make children learn and behave well.
